Ms. Walker’s experience includes both private and public practice in matters involving land use and environmental law, business litigation, federal and state regulatory matters, municipal law (including representation of more than 60 cities), federal government contracts and insurance coverage.
She has represented a wide range of companies, including bioscience, pharmaceuticals, high tech, manufacturing, nuclear, the oil industry, airlines, automotive, engineering, the San Diego boatyards, the three major US tuna canners and many Southern California cities in regulatory matters, administrative litigation and federal court Superfund litigation.
Ms. Walker has been a partner with a prominent national law firm based in San Francisco. She has also held several high-level government positions in Washington DC with the Departments of Justice, Interior and Energy. She was also the General Counsel for the Department of the Air Force in the Pentagon where she was the Chief Legal Officer and Chief Ethics Official advising senior leadership on a wide range of issues.
Ms. Walker is listed in Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in American Women, Who’s Who in Emerging Leaders and was recently awarded with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award reserved for biographees who have demonstrated leadership, excellence and longevity within their respective professions.
Ms. Walker has authored numerous OP/Ed articles of interest to her clients in the fields of energy and the environment and has been an invited speaker on various topics.
In 2008, her article, “The Strategic Relationship Between Ethics and Dispute Resolution: What Every CEO Should Know,” was published in the Pepperdine University’s Dispute Resolution Law Journal.
Ms. Walker’s professional affiliations include the State Bar of California and she is licensed to practice in the US Supreme Court, the federal courts in California, as well as the State Courts.
Ms. Walker has served as the Chairman of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce’s Environmental Committee. She is a Founding Board Member of BIOCOM, the premier bioscience trade organization in San Diego (1991-2001). She was the President in 1994. She has been an Instructor in Natural Resources/Environmental Law for UCSD Extension (2000, and various other years). She served as a US Commissioner on the Inter American Tropical Tuna Commission (1988-1995), a Presidential appointment. The Commission is a government organization comprised of the countries fishing for tuna in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
